Airbus Training Centre Mexico
Serving Latin America
Strategically located on the campus of ASA’s (Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares) International Training Facility (CIIASA) near the Mexico City International Airport, the 2,500-square-metre facility provides training to Airbus operators in Mexico and throughout Latin America.
The Airbus Training Centre Mexico houses a full-suite of A320 pilot training equipment, and has capacity for more than 1,000 trainees annually – offering pilot-type rating, recurrent and maintenance training for the A320 Family.
Officially opened in September 2016, Airbus Training Centre Mexico is the result of an agreement between Airbus and ASA, a federal agency overseeing the management, operations and development of Mexican airports.
Ab initio Pilot Cadet Training Programme
The ab initio Pilot Cadet Training Programme, co-developed by Airbus and France’s ENAC civil aviation university, supports airline customers in contributing to the long-term availability of qualified pilots
In 2018, Airbus added ab initio training to the Airbus flight training curriculum, with the first such programme launched in partnership with Escuela de Aviacion Mexico (EAM), which is located near the Airbus Mexico Training Centre. Ab initio is the Latin term meaning “from the beginning,” and in aviation, it refers to taking a someone from the start of pilot training to being ready for flying with an airline.
By leveraging training that meets Europe’s EASA civil aviation authority standards, Airbus offers an innovative, high-quality and cost-effective ab initio training to customers. This enables airlines to delegate pilot screening activities and recruit competent pilots trained to a global harmonised level and training standard.
With the ab initio training programme, once cadets complete their initial training with EAM, they can finish in the Airbus Mexico Training Centre to become fully qualified A320 pilots on the Airbus A320.
